BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

1. NDDC ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME AND EXPANSION OF MICRO SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES IN THE REGION.

The Niger Delta Regional Master Plan (NDRDMP) in section 5.7.3 and 5.7.4 addresses policies for economic development in rural and urban areas of the region. The above sections of the Master Plan emphasize the need for all stakeholders to invest consistently in the development of entrepreneur activities in the region, through training and capacity building for entrepreneurs among others activities.
Following the success of the previous programmes and the overwhelming interests of the (MICRO SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES) MSMEs in the region, the Commission intends to further build the capacity of some identified MSMEs from across the region that are determined to compete favourably in today’s global economy.

ABOUT THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME:

The Entrepreneurship Training Programme is about identifying viable businesses in the MSME category from all (9) Nine states of the region, and build their capacity and thereafter provide necessary supports and enabling environment for their growth and competitiveness in today’s global markets. The nature of support will be determined by the business plan that will be developed by each participating entrepreneur during the training.
It needs to be emphasized here that there is need to diversify and strengthen the economies of the Niger Delta States and make them less dependent on the oil and gas sector. Therefore ONLY entrepreneurs outside the oil and gas sector are encouraged to apply.

The preferred sectors include:

a) Agriculture
b) ICT
c) Manufacturing and Processing
d) Entertainment and Hospitality
e) Commerce and Trade
f) Professional Services, among others.

GENERAL CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:

1. The business (existing or soon to be registered) must be legitimate concerns (not involved in illegal pursuits) and duly registered under the laws of the federal Republic of Nigeria.
2. The entrepreneur(s) promoting the business i.e. Sole Proprietor(s), Partners or Directors must be from one of the Niger Delta States.
3. The business must be dully registered with the relevant Inland Revenue (tax) Authorities.

2. OTHER SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PROGRAMMES

The Commission also intends to train Niger Deltans to acquire up to date skills in different trades. By so doing, the Commission would have created a pool of skilled workforce who are self-reliant and capable of training and employing other Niger Deltans.

Job Description

Act as the point of contact to the Executive, handling and distributing confidential mails, telephone calls, faxes, etc.

What will the programme be like?

The Future Leaders Programme suits graduates who want a career with real purpose. It’s an accelerated development programme that equips graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes to move quickly into senior positions at GSK.

From the start, our challenging rotations will help you deliver the standards of excellence that we’d expect from a future leader.

What do I need to succeed?

Our Future Leaders need ambition, commercial awareness and a self-motivated, proactive approach. We’re looking for clear, effective communicators who can quickly build a rapport with a wide range of people. It’s also important that you can adapt to change and keep focused when the pressure is on.
While you have the drive and confidence to trust your own judgement, you’re a real team player who actively collaborates with others. In addition, you’ll need an analytical mind, a talent for multi-tasking and the ability to influence others.

Basic Qualifications

Academic qualifications – applicants must have a BSc Pharmacy and have achieved a minimum grade of second class in their undergraduate degree
Eligibility/ Right to work in Nigeria
Flexibility in terms of location
Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential

Online Testing

As part of our selection process we may ask you to complete between one and three online assessments. You will receive an email from us with a link to a personalised ‘my assessment’ homepage where you can access your first assessment. Please note, you will be given 72 hours from receipt of this email to complete your first assessment.
If you don’t complete the assessment within 72 hours, it will expire and your participation in our selection process will come to an end.
We would like to advise you to review your email daily to check whether you have been sent your first assessment.

Timeline & Assessment Process

Our robust recruitment process includes online application, online testing, telephone/video/face to face interview [delete as appropriate] and assessment centre.
We accept applications on an ongoing basis and will progress these according to the date that they were received. For this reason we encourage you to apply as early as possible. We cannot guarantee to accept your application once we have filled all of our positions.
It is expected that our Assessment Centres will run on the week of 21st August.
